Checks and Examinations

The Parkmore Medical Centre provides a wide range of medical services with the latest up to date equipment and knowledge. These include the following.

Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and Diabetes Checks

High blood pressure increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Reducing blood pressure can reduce these risks.  All adults should have their blood pressure and cholesterol checked at least every three years. If you are overweight or have a family history of diabetes you should also have your blood glucose checked. Treatment does not always require tablets.

Breast Examinations

It is important for all women to examine their own breasts regularly. Information sheets are available at the Practice. We also suggest regular mammograms from the age of 40 as a routine free screening procedure.

Medicals

Our medicals include - Aviation, Diving, Department of Education, Pre-Employment, Insurance and general check ups. Please inform our reception staff of the medical you require when booking your appointment.

Smear (PAP) Tests

A smear test is a screening test for women involving removing a sample of cells from the cervix to check for changes which could develop into cancer. These changes can be treated and cancer prevented if picked up at an early stage.
